Just a quick note to let everyone know that my family and I are moving back to Boulder!!! Being a photographer in Maine was awesome-the light, the ocean, the sweet blues and yellows of the summer months. But also along with that, came like 5 months of near darkness-the opposite of what a photographer dreams of:)
Don’t get me wrong, I improved my photography by leaps and bounds. I was immensely challenged by the low light, the fog, the sun setting at 4pm. But I persevered, and as a result learned new things about shadows-how they fall, hide, embrace, accentuate the light. How darkness can be used to highlight something extraordinarily beautiful. Here’s one I took on Mother’s Day (I woke up at 6am to our cat having babies under the covers. Of my bed. My tempurpedic bed.)
We have a lot to do for our family to move to Boulder. I have to pack up the house, get the children enrolled in school, transfer my photography business back there. AND I am working hard to transfer everything for my husband’s business as well.
It is somewhat overwhelming looking at all the beautiful family photographers that have popped in in Boulder in my absence. WOW! We have some talent in Colorado. I am excited to meet all these new photographers + create some new friendships. I truly believe that businesses thrive when there is collaboration. Yeah, a little of the competitive spirit is good as well if there is also support + kindness. There are MORE than enough families in Boulder who value beautiful and artistic photography.
So, please contact me if you are a family photographer in Boulder! I would love to meet some new talented artists to explore, develop, expand, and exchange our photography with each other.
We’ll be back in July!
